WebJun 22, 2024 · My portholes are currently fixed in place by woodscrews, through the side of the boat and into mdf porthole liners with oak faces. I guess this is not normal practice? The liners are mostly salvagable, if a bit soft now. I am re sealing and re-fitting with fitting 4mm nutserts to screw the portholes too with brass machine screws. WebOct 21, 2015 · 3mm "foamex" (flexible board) cut into strips then nailed to the edge of the plywood lining followed by lots of little bits of left over teak parquet flooring (any other wood would do say 1 inch x 3/8 beading or whatever cut into little pieces. These little bits stuck to the foamex board with pu sealant. Voilà.

They don't have liners though, they are basically set into 5mm steel and 18mm plywood so only have a 3/4 inch rebate to set something in.
